Your First Automation

"Automation" sounds like a developer word. Your first one doesn't need to be. It just needs to remove one repeated step from something you already do every week.

Start by finding a real repetition, not an imaginary one. Look at what you did last week: did you write a similar social caption five different times? Answer a similar customer question more than once? Reformat the same kind of list or description over and over? That repeated task, not a hypothetical one, is where automation actually pays off.

The simplest automation is a template plus a habit. Take a prompt that worked well (the kind you saved back in Level 2), turn it into a fill-in-the-blanks template, and commit to running it every time that task comes up instead of writing from scratch. This alone removes most of the thinking time, even with zero extra software.

The next step up is connecting two things together, the trigger-and-action pattern from the last lesson. Pick the one recurring task you identified, and connect its trigger to a single AI-powered action. Nothing more elaborate than that for your first attempt.

Give it a trial run before you trust it. Let it handle the task for a week while you still check its output, the same way you checked AI-generated code back in Level 3. Once it's been right consistently, you can step back and let it run with less supervision.
